Three men charged in connection with assault at Duncan motel

Three men have been charged in connection with an assault at a Duncan motel last Friday night that left a Crofton man with serious injuries.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP officers responding to a disturbance found the 36-year-old victim near Alexander Street.

Investigators figured out that the assault had taken place at a nearby motel.

One suspect was arrested near the scene, two others were taken into custody within hours of the incident at a residence in Lake Cowichan.

Investigation has determined this incident was targeted and we do not believe there is a risk to the public at this time, said Corporal Trevor March of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Street Crime Unit.

Three men have been charged with Aggravated Assault and Forcible Confinement in connection with the case.

James Otis Downey, 22, of Youbou and Manjit Singh Guray 35, of Shawnigan Lake remain in custody, while Curtis Cleveland Gall 33, of Duncan, has been released with a court appearance in April .

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP.
