A three-foot ball python is on the loose in Oak Bay after it escaped its glass enclosure last Friday, according to police.
In a Tuesday tweet, police say the snake, which weighs about two or three pounds, is fangless and resides in the 2000-block of Oak Bay Avenue.
While police say neighbours helped search the snake’s home and the surrounding area, it’s yet to be found.
Ball pythons are non-venomous, and this snake, in particular, was recently fed prior to its escape, according to police in the tweet.
“Owner fears snake slithered off (and) died due to cool temperatures,” police said, also noting animal control is aware of the missing reptile.
Anyone who spots the snake is asked to call animal control or Oak Bay Police at 250-592-2424.
