The history of IMAX and the transition from film to digital is a fascinating story, not only from a projection point of view but from a film-capture point of view as well.
From its beginnings with 70mm film stock to digital technology, from water-cooled 15,000-watt bulb illumination to laser modules, and film print delivery to computer hard-drives, IMAX has evolved considerably since it was created in 1967, by three Canadian filmmakers.
Located at the Royal BC Museum, the IMAX theatre in Victoria is considered one of the best in North America.
In this edition of This Week In History, Veronica Cooper meets with IMAX Victoria’s director Paul Wild to learn the history of this incredible theatre.
