Rumours continue to swirl about the possibility of a provincial election being called any day now.

In this episode of the New Normal, CHEK’s Stacy Ross speaks to newly named BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau about the possibility of a provincial election.

Furstenau says it would be irresponsible for Premier John Horgan to call an “unnecessary” provincial election right now as the amid COVID-19 pandemic continues.

“[Horgan] has to rise up and be the leader that British Columbia needs right now, which is somebody who is going to focus on protecting the health and wellbeing of people,” says Furstenau.

“It would be irresponsible to call an unnecessary election right now,” she added.

Furstenau also says the last place Adrian Dix, minister of health and Rob Fleming, minister of education, need to be right now is on the campaign trail.

“We need them working with the provincial health officer,” she says.
