Oak Bay is notifying residents of a scheduled technical outage on Sunday, which will affect non-emergency lines for the police and fire departments, as well as municipal facilities.
The outage will start at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 and last approximately six hours.
During this time, non-emergency phones and computers will not be working at all district facilities, including the police and fire non-emergency lines.
However, the outage will not impact 911 emergency call services, and first responders will be in contact with the regional 911 system through radio and cell phones.

At Oak Bay recreation sites, in addition to the phones not working, no registration will be available at reception desks, and payments through credit or debit cards will not be accepted.
The rec centres will be open during this time, however, and reception staff will be available to oversee cash transactions, punch passes or membership passes.
Online registration will also be available all of Sunday.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” said the district in a release Thursday.
