WATCH: Saanich police are trying to track down two suspects after what they’re calling an “appalling” theft. The target was a donation bin for Jeneece Place… a home for sick children getting medical care in Victoria. April Lawrence has the story.

Saanich police are looking for two suspects who stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a Tillicum Centre donation box early Tuesday morning.

Police say two suspects broke into the mall on Tillicum Road around 2 a.m. and were seen on surveillance video walking from a loading bay area directly to a money donation box inside the centre.

The suspects then broke the lock of the donation box and proceeded to steal the cash inside.

The bin contained donations to Jeneece Place, a home for children and their families while receiving medical care in Victoria.

“During this break and enter it appears as if the donation box was specifically targeted,” said Saanich Police Sgt. Jereme Leslie in a statement.

“Crimes like this are tremendously appalling as the suspects are stealing funds that are intended for families who are going through a difficult time dealing with medical issues.”

Police say one of the suspects was wearing a white hat with a blue lid, a ski mask, a black jacket, gloves and pants and carried a grey backpack.

The second suspect is described as wearing a black mask, a red jacket with black shoulder and arms and a blue hoody underneath, and black pants, gloves and shoes.

Police have released surveillance video of the theft.

Anyone with information related to the crime is asked to call Saanich Police or Crime Stoppers.
