An Esquimalt man faces ten charges in connection with a Victoria Police investigation into an alleged drug dealer operating in the area around Ecole Victor Brodeur.

VicPD reports that they received complaints from the community in July an undertook a detailed investigation, On Monday officers were granted a search warrant for the suspect’s residence on the 600-block of Head Street.

On Tuesday, officers with the Strike Force Unit and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team assisted in the arrest of the man without incident just after 5 p.m. in the 100-block of Wilson Street. A handgun, ammunition, several knives, and other items were seized.

A search of the suspect’s residence led to the arrest of a woman and officers found various amounts of what are suspected to be drugs, cash, a loaded shotgun, several replica firearms, and various other weapons including a taser and a crossbow.

The male suspect is due to appear in court on Thursday. VicPD say additional charges are likely.
