Victoria Police say a man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a transit operator with a knife.

The Sept. 15 video was caught on video where a man took out a knife and “brandished” it at the driver.

After VicPD released images of the suspect, an officer recognized the suspect as someone they had previously interacted with in the 1400-block of Pandora Avenue.

Officers found and arrested the suspect in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.

After arresting him, officers learned he was wanted on a bench warrant for a series of convictions in Ontario for offences including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assault, break and enter, mischief and weapons possession.

A bench warrant is a type of arrest warrant for when a person misses a scheduled court date, hearing, or trial which gives police the power to hold the person in custody until they can be brought to court, according to Community Legal Education Ontario.

Officers have requested an extension of his bench warrant to remand him to Ontario to address his charges there.
