A driver of a Lamborghini supercar had their vehicle impounded and licence suspended, after they allegedly failed a breathalyzer test.

Victoria police pulled the vehicle over on the 2000 block of Douglas Street around midnight Saturday, after a patrol officer noticed flames shooting out of the exhaust.

They say the driver was discovered to be impaired by alcohol, and is prohibited from driving for 90 days.

The vehicle will remain impounded for 30 days.

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, a 30-day impound and 90-day prohibition occur when one’s blood-alcohol level exceeds 0.08.

A $500 monetary penalty and mandatory referral to remedial programs also follow the violation under the act.
