'Such a great community': 15th annual Ultimate Toy Fair returns to Victoria
(Ultimate Toy Fair)

One of the largest toy fairs on Vancouver Island is returning to Greater Victoria this weekend.

The Ultimate Toy Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24 at Pearkes Arena, 3100 Tillicum Rd.

The event brings together toy enthusiasts and vendors of all ages, all while raising money for charity.

This year’s toy fair boasts more than 200 tables full of toys, collectibles, action figures, models, vinyl records and more.

The offerings are prefect for families and more serious collectors, and for anyone young at heart.

The event also raises money for the B.C. Children’s Hospital and the MS Society of Canada.

Since the toy fair started 15 years ago in 2008, the event has raised more than $60,000 for charity.

Attendees can help raise funds by bidding on a silent auction or by getting a photo taken by donation with the costume-clad Star Wars fan group, 501st Outer Rim Garrison.

Visitors are also encouraged to come in costume. Anyone who comes in cosplay is eligible to win an extra door prize at the fair.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door with cash for $5 each.

“We absolutely love hosting our Toy Fair. It is such a happy weekend for so many people and such a great community,” said Candice Woodward, promoter and organizer of the event, and owner of Cherry Bomb Toys in Victoria, which is presenting the event.

“This is our 15th year putting on this event twice a year. The nostalgia it brings is wonderful,” she added.
