Strong winds that began hitting parts of Vancouver Island Saturday night are expected to continue Sunday.
West Vancouver Island and Greater Victoria are under a wind warning Sunday. For the west strong northwest winds are blowing at 80 km/h and are gusting to 100 km/h. They will ease tonight as the storm tracks farther inland.
For Greater Victoria, southwest winds are predicted to strengthen to 60 to 90 km/h by the afternoon, but will ease by early Monday morning.
B.C. Ferries has issued a travel advisory, and some Harbour Air flights to Victoria have been cancelled.
Environment Canada warns the winds may cause damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows.
