A cat named Diva that hitched a ride in a moving van to Duncan was flown home on Friday.

More than two weeks ago, Diva, svelte grey tortoiseshell tabby, somehow wound up in a moving van travelling more than 1,200 kilometres to Vancouver Island. The neighbours had been on the road for at least 48 hours before they discovered the curious feline while unpacking furniture.

A long-haul trucker had offered to give Diva a ride home but the timing didn’t work out.

After receiving a call from the cat’s owner, Andy Delahaye, Find Lost and Escaped Cats (FLEC) went and picked Diva up. The cat then stayed in a Saanich foster home for a couple of days before she was flown from the Victoria’s airport to Edmonton’s airport with a WestJet employee escort.
