West Shore RCMP and Victoria Police Department officers returned a stolen bike to a Langford resident. The bike had been stolen nearly a year earlier.

A Langford man has his bike back after it was stolen from almost a year ago.

According to the West Shore RCMP, a man reported his bike stolen from his workplace in September 2019.

The bike’s owner was someone the West Shore RCMP were familiar with.

One of their officers had met him a few months earlier  under “tougher circumstances.” At that time, the man was dealing with the loss of his stepfather, the release notes.

The man had asked the officer to keep an eye out for his bike and life moved on.

Then in April, according to the release, a VicPD officer was out on patrol when she came across a male suspect who was breaching several court-ordered conditions and was in possession of the Langford man’s stolen bike.

The suspect was arrested.

The arresting officer who found the bike along with the West Shore RCMP officer who had interacted with the Langford man before delivered the bike to him.

“This meant a lot to him and to us as well,” the West Shore RCMP said in the release.

The Langford man was very happy to have his bike back too.
