Would you pay $1-million for a comic book?

Gareth Gaudin, co-owner of Victoria’s Legends Comics and Books, believes a rare, first-edition comic book on consignment at his store will easily sell for that price.

The comic book, titled ‘Amazing Fantasy #15,’ was printed in 1962.

“I’ve never seen one so nice and it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever held in my hands” Gaudin explained.

The comic tells the original tale of Spider-man and is the character’s first appearance in a comic book.

The piece is believed to be one of the top three most valuable comics in the world.

“It should be an art gallery,” Gaudin said. “I think it shouldn’t be in somebody’s collection in a box. It should be framed on a wall of a gallery or a museum.”

A Victoria collector brought the piece into his shop earlier this month.

The collector purchased it nearly 30 years ago for $450.

“Most people that have had these over the years sold it when it hit $10,000 or even $50,000” Gaudin explained.

“It’s very rare that someone held onto it for so long.”

Gaudin expects to receive offers from international buyers and collectors.
