Snowball fight draws a big crowd to the grounds of the B.C. Legislature on Tuesday night

The B.C. Legislature may be best known for the political sparring that takes place inside, but on Tuesday night the battle took place right out front.

As many as 200 people answered the call on social media and turned up for a huge snowball fight on the grounds outside the building.

“I was in the park last night and saw a few people throwing snowballs.” said organizer Kelly Somogyi.

“I thought let’s bring a big group together, the response has been unreal.”

Somogyi says, despite a lot of interest on Facebook, he was expecting 50 people at the most to show up.

Instead, he estimates there were as many a few hundred on hand for the event.

Daniel del Villar of the Victoria Academy of Ballet says he brought some of his students to enjoy a truly Canadian experience.

“I’ve been in Victoria for 15-years,” he said.

” This is the biggest one I’ve seen.”
