Singer and songwriter Jaimey Hamilton delivers message of hope

Nineteen-year-old Jaimey Hamilton has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember.

“I’ve always loved writing songs. I’ve been writing songs for…seems like forever now,” Hamilton said.

“It was a way for me to get everything that I was feeling out. It was one thing I could really depend on because I never had to give it up.”

Because as a three-time cancer survivor, Hamilton has had to give up a lot.

“I was five years old when I was first diagnosed.  I was diagnosed with leukemia ALL.   I then relapsed when I was nine years old, and then again when I was 12,” she said.

“I had to give up sports. I was really into soccer, baseball.  [I had to give up] spending time with friends, of course school, so one thing that was always there for me was music.”

Now releasing her first CD, this survivor wants to inspire others with her songs.

“One thing I really want to do for others is to give them hope, and to let them know that things do get better because I’m kind of a walking example of, I guess, a survivor.”
