The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP is looking for any witnesses who spotted a possible impaired driver, in a black Ford pickup truck on East Saanich Road Saturday.

Police say they received several reports from the public that the vehicle was seen driving erratically around 3:30 p.m.

The pickup struck a trailer and several signs before coming to a rest in a ditch against some trees on Canora Drive.

Police say the driver displayed some symptoms of impairment, and officers used a drug recognition expert to figure out if the driver was impaired by drug or alcohol consumption.

The driver refused to cooperate, so they are being charged with Refusal to Comply with Demands, and Operating a Vehicle while Impaired.

RCMP say that during the investigation what is believed to be illegal drugs were located, seized and are currently being sent off for analysis to support a charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

If you have any information that could help the investigation,  please contact the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment at (250) 656-3931, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
