Police are investigating reports of several shots being fired at a home in Nanaimo Tuesday morning.

Nanaimo RCMP says they responded at around 6:15 a.m. to a residence on Wildlife Place and no injuries are reported to the occupants of the home.

Officers are following reports of a vehicle leaving the area shortly after the shots were heard and of two people fleeing on foot, but police have not yet had a description provided.

A heavy police presence was in the area including officers with the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team, general duty officers, police dog services and forensics officers.

RCMP says the investigation is continuing and will provide more details when they become available.
