Sex offender arrested on Vancouver Island after going missing from halfway house

A convicted sex offender wanted by Vancouver police has been arrested on Vancouver Island.

Michael Bopfinger was arrested Wednesday afternoon with help from Victoria police and Central Saanich Police. Police did not release the exact location of the arrest.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for the 42-year-old man’s arrest after he failed to return to a Vancouver halfway house on Aug. 25. Bopfinger was on statutory release and failed to return to the home by his curfew time.
