Seven-year-old child killed, four injured in Sooke crash: RCMP

A crash in Sooke earlier this week killed a seven-year-old child and sent four people to hospital, RCMP now confirm.

The BC Coroners Service had previously announced it was investigating a death linked to the crash, which happened at around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 5800-block of Sooke Road.

First responders arriving at the crash scene found multiple people with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have since determined that a black Chevy Cavalier heading westbound on Sooke Road struck a curb near a bus stop before it crashed into a tree.

The Vancouver Island RCMP General Investigation Section is working with Sooke RCMP on what they’re expecting will be a “lengthy” investigation.

Police are asking any witnesses or people with dashcam footage of Sooke Road from Woodlands Road to Veteran Memorial Parkway between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Tuesday to contact them.

Specifically, they’re looking for any images of a black two-door sedan heading westbound.
