Oak Bay police are requesting a driver medical review after a senior swerved into oncoming traffic and later rolled her car onto its roof in a crash last week.

Police were called to the 3200-block of Cadboro Bay Road in Oak Bay around 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 8 for a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash.

When officers arrived, the 79-year-old driver said she accidentally swerved into oncoming traffic after she had “difficulty seeing the yellow line.”

She then overcorrected and struck a parked car on the shoulder of the road, which caused her own vehicle to flip onto its roof.

The woman suffered bruising from her seatbelt as part of the crash and was taken to hospital.

Police estimate that the damage to the driver’s car is over $10,000, and two other parked vehicles were also damaged in the crash.

The driver was handed a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention, as well as six points on her licence.
