Security guard assaulted with possible bear spray in downtown Victoria parkade

A security guard suffered non-life threatening injuries after an alleged bear spray assault at a parkade in downtown Victoria Tuesday night.

According to Victoria police, officers received a report of an assault at the parkade in the 700-block of Johnson Street around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, the officers found an injured security guard.

Police said the security guard told them a man had been smoking something and an altercation had occurred. The victim was then hit by what he believed was bear spray. The suspect then fled on foot.

BC Ambulance treated the victim at the parkade. He was then released.

Police are still looking for the suspect. He is described by police as Caucasian, approximately 60-years-old, 5’10,” with a slim build and grey short hair. Police believe he was wearing a light blue and grey jacket with jeans.
