Over night on Nov. 17, the Malahat through Goldstream Park will be down to single-alternating traffic for crews to do work.

A section of the Malahat Highway near Goldstream Provincial Park will go down to single-lane alternating traffic overnight for geotechnical work.

Single-lane traffic will be in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 until 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The lane closures will allow crews to measure the depth of the bedrock for planning purposes. The work is unrelated to the damage sustained in last year’s atmospheric river that led to damaging floods across the province, the ministry confirmed to CHEK News.

That flood, which occurred exactly one year ago today, happened at Tunnel Hill while this work is taking place in the section through Goldstream Provincial Park.

The ministry warns drivers to expect delays up to 20 minutes.

While work is underway, drivers are reminded to drive to the conditions and follow the instructions of traffic personnel and signs.

Up-to-date road closure information will be posted to DriveBC’s website and on its Twitter page.
