Sea lion spotted with rope around its throat near Nanaimo

The public is being asked to be on the lookout for a California sea lion spotted around Nanaimo with a rope around its throat.

A notice was posted on the Protection Isle twitter account saying the sea lion has been seen off Neck Point, Ruxton, Decourcey and Valdes Island over the past few days.

Anyone who spots it is asked to call the Marine Mammal Incident Hotline at 1-800-465-4336
