Salt Spring is known as ‘Canada’s Island of the Arts’ and that’s especially true this month.

One of the country’s largest visual arts competitions is taking place on the Island right now.

It’s called the Salt Spring National Art Prize (SSNAP) and features work from artists in every province of Canada.

More than 2,000 works of art were submitted and in the end, 52 pieces were chosen for SSNAP 2019.

The completion, which was started by Salt Spring artist Ron Crawford in 2015 and is put on by the Salt Spring Arts Council, is held every two years.

The artwork is on display at Salt Spring’s Mahon Hall until October 21st.
