BC Ferries has cancelled sailings, and added others, as it deals with a damaged vessel out of service between Victoria and Vancouver.

The Spirit of British Columbia was damaged Saturday while docking during high winds, one of many issues the conditions caused travellers on the weekend, which saw more than 20 BC Ferries’ sailings cancelled.

BC Ferries says the Spirit of British Columbia has been removed from service for repairs to its rubbing strake, and specialized technicians have been called to perform the fix.

The corporation has scrapped alternating morning sailings, with the 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. departure from Swartz Bay cancelled, along with the 8 a.m. and noon sailings out of Tsawwassen.

Two sailings have been added with high traffic flows expected.

A 2 p.m. sailing will leave Tsawwassen, followed by a 4 p.m. departure from Swartz Bay.

A noon sailing from Swartz Bay is also cancelled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but BC Ferries has added an 8 p.m. sailing on those days from Victoria.

The corporation says to check its website for any schedule changes.
