Saanich police traffic stop leads to seizure of replica firearms, drugs

Saanich police have seized a collection of replica firearms as well as a notable quantity of drugs from a suspicious vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to a police release, the incident took place on Monday, August 2 after officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Mckenzie Avenue and Pat Bay Highway.

While investigating the vehicle during the traffic stop, police uncovered and seized ten replica firearms.

Officers also located drugs and drug paraphernalia including what is believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine and psilocybin.

“Anytime drugs are accompanied by replica firearms, it is cause for concern,” stated D/Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.

Patrol officers are still investigating the file and charges are expected.
