Police are hoping to speak with witnesses of an incident at a Saanich bus stop that may have been an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl Thursday night.

Saanich police say between 5 p.m and 5:30 p.m., the female was approached by a male who had stepped out of a light blue minivan that stopped at the #39 Royal Oak bus exchange, heading towards Langford near Elk Lake Drive.

Authorities say the 14-year-old believed the male wanted her to enter the van.

There were four people inside the vehicle, with one First Nations female and three First Nations males.

Police are looking to speak to witnesses or any of the occupants of the minivan about the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
