Saanich police have confirmed a fire at Island Outfitters on Jan. 4 was deliberately set and is being investigated as arson.

Just after 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 4, the Saanich Fire Department and Saanich Police were called to a fire at the rear of Island Outfitters at 3319 Douglas Street.

The store was closed at the time of the fire so nobody was injured. But the damage inside the building was extensive. Fire officials said the blaze started in some exterior storage sheds at the rear of the building.

The owners of Island Outfitters shared numerous photos of the destruction inside the building on Wednesday, along with a few shots of the exterior.

As you know, we have had a devastating fire one month ago, on January 4, 2020. It has been very hard on all of us here…
