A man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly assaulted a BC Transit driver who had asked the man to leave a bus in Saanich.
Police said just before 8:30 a.m. the man was sitting on the bus in the 1600-block of Cedar Hill Cross Road when he began to yell profanities at another person who had just sat down.
When the bus arrived at the next stop, the driver asked the suspect to leave.
The suspect allegedly refused to leave the bus and approached the driver while yelling profanities and trying to start a fight.
Police said the suspect then reached around the clear safety divider in an attempt to assault the driver.
A physical altercation then started between the suspect and the driver. The suspect then left the bus.
The suspect, a 34-year-old man, was later arrested by Saanich police officers. Saanich police say he is facing one count of assault.
Police also said the bus driver was not physically injured.
