Police in Saanich were busy impounding vehicles for speeding on Sunday.
According to the Saanich Police Department, officers impounded multiple vehicles after they were caught speeding along the Trans-Canada Highway at the McKenzie Avenue interchange, where construction is still ongoing and the speed limit remains 60 km/h.
In one case, officers caught a motorist going 116 km/h while construction crews were present along the highway and impounded the vehicle.
Saanich PD said another two vehicles were impounded after they were also caught speeding in the same spot shortly before midnight.
Despite the McKenzie/Trans-Canada Hwy interchange project nearing completion, the construction zone speed limit of 60 kph is still in place as work is ongoing.
