Saanich man dies from injuries after police respond to shooting incident northeast of Calgary

RCMP in Alberta say a 30-year-old man from Saanich is dead following a shooting incident east of Airdrie, Alta.

On Thursday at around 3 p.m., Beiseker, Three Hills and Airdrie RCMP went to a complaint of a firearms-related injury in the area of Highway 567 and Range Road 280 in Rocky View County.  An injured man was found at the location.

Police initiated first aid until paramedics arrived and took over treatment. The man died at the scene from his injuries, police said.

According to Beiseker RCMP, an autopsy is being done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary today. Police will not be releasing the name of the man who died.

Police are still investigating the incident and say it is believed to be isolated. The public is not believed to be at risk.
