Victoria police say a month-long investigation produced a large seizure of drugs and weapons, along with the arrest of a Saanich man.

An investigation was launched in May which police say took officers to various areas of Greater Victoria.

Two warrants were executed in Colwood on June 21 by the Victoria police Crime Reduction Unit, VicPD Strike Force, with assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team.

Officers seized 900 grams of cocaine and over 1.4 kilograms of fentanyl, along with several firearms, ammunition and two vehicles.

VicPD says Andrew Ritch has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a loaded firearm.

“Investigators suspect that the Fentanyl located is likely of a higher purity and the quantity may be many times greater once made ready for the end user,” VicPD Staff Sgt. Conor King said in a release.

“This file is another example that drug trafficking doesn’t follow geographical boundaries and we work with other jurisdictions to prevent drugs from getting on our streets.”

Police say the seized vehicles will be handed over to the B.C. Civil Forfeiture office.
