Saanich grocery store employee tests positive for COVID-19

A grocery store worker in the Victoria region has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a June 2 notice on Sobey’s website, an employee working at Thrifty Foods on 3475 Quadra St. in Saanich recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee’s last day working at the store was May 20.

Sobey’s, the parent company of Thrifty Foods, does not disclose when employees tested positive, saying instead that they work with public health to support those who become infected.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety,” reads a statement on the company’s website.
