Saanich Fire says crew members quickly knocked down a fire and contained it to a dryer at a townhouse complex Monday morning.
Fire crews were sent to Burnside and Tillicum around 10:35 a.m.
A Saanich fire official says the lone occupant of the home and two pets, a dog and gerbil, escaped unharmed and a working smoke alarm is credited for making the occupant aware of the fire.
