Royals top Chiefs in scoring frenzy

CHEK

WATCH: It was not a game for the defensive enthusiast, but the Victoria Royals topped the Spokane Chiefs 7-5 at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre on Friday night.

The Royals opened the scoring just nine seconds into the game, as Tarun Fizer chased the opening dump-in to the Spokane corner and wired a shot from an impossible angle to beat the Chiefs netminder and give the Royals an early lead.

Under two minutes later, D-Jay Jerome would score on the Royals second shot of the game to make it 2-0 Victoria, spelling the end of the night for the Chiefs goaltender.

The teams would trade goals back and forth for the remainder of the game, with the Royals eventually coming out on top 7-5.

The two teams do battle once more Saturday night in Victoria, as the Royals host Canadian Forces Appreciation Night.
