Royals’ Scott Walford drafted by Montreal Canadiens

CHEK

Victoria Royals defenceman Scott Walford admits he’ll need to brush up on his bilingual abilities, but his play on the ice proved too good for the Montreal Canadiens to ignore.

The historic franchise drafted Walford 68th overall (3rd round) in the 2017 NHL Draft.

The 18-year-old defenceman is coming off his best year in the WHL, posting 30 points in 60 games.

Both Walford and Royals forward Ryan Peckford were ranked by NHL Central scouting in the top 90 of all North American draft-eligible skaters. Unfortunately for Peckford, his name was not called.

Walford is now heading to Canadiens prospect camp next week in Montreal.
