An area of Royal Roads University in Colwood was closed on Friday following a pair of cougar sightings.
At 9:15 a.m., the university warned walkers that a cougar had been spotted in the library parking lot on campus.
Then, shortly after 11 a.m., the university said a cougar had been spotted for a second time that day near Charlie’s Trail, located on the north part of the campus near the Colwood Creek.
After the second sighting occurred, Royal Roads closed its gardens for the remainder of Friday as a precaution.
“Please use the buddy system and keep pets leashed on campus,” said the university in a social media post.
