Comox Valley RCMP have identified and arrested a man following a robbery at a Courtenay store at the beginning of April.

Police said on April 3, the male suspect went into a business on Ryan Road in Courtenay and demanded all the money from behind the counter.

After the robbery, police released a surveillance photo of the man. Police said the Comox Valley Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the integrated forensic identification section, police dog services, the street crime unit and tips from the public, were able to identify the man.

He was arrested on April 27 and remains in custody. His name has not been released by police.

“Investigators worked tirelessly to identify a suspect in this case,” Cpl. Matt Holst with the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit said in a statement.

“There were a lot of long hours that went into this investigation, including the execution of search warrants, surveillance, and examining video footage from multiple local businesses.”
