Road to Recovery: StrongerBC’s impact on Vancouver Island’s economy

CHEK

On this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala chats with Rob Gillezeau, assistant professor in the department of economics at the University of Victoria.

The provincial government released its StrongerBC: A Plan for Today, a Vision for Tomorrow economic plan last week, setting out to fill one million jobs over the next 10 years. They plan on doing that by “investing in skills training, building resilient communities and positioning B.C. as a world leader in a low-carbon economy,” according to a press release.

The plan is a result of engagement sessions with more than 300 people from across the region. It’s considered an evolving plan, designed to be adapted and adjusted.

Gillezeau discusses in this episode what the plan’s key priorities are, the government’s spending priorities, and how it will impact Vancouver Island’s economy.

Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
