The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) puts on the annual State of the Island Economic Summit, one of the most popular business events of the year on the Island. It brings together leaders and professionals from business and organizations across the region.

The summit allows attendees to network with each other while learning about and discussing the current trends and challenges of the economy. At the end of the event, VIEA releases a State of the Island report, produced by MNP, providing a snapshot of how the economy fared the previous year.

VIEA had to pivot its event last year, in the early days of the pandemic. It went from an in-person event to an entirely online virtual event with more than 500 people attending. This year, VIEA is planning a hybrid event with both in-person and online elements.

The 2021 State of the Island Economic Summit takes place on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. Registrations are now open online.

Hanson explains in this segment what people can expect from the 15th annual State of the Island Economic Summit and the benefit of having an annual event such as this.
