Road to Recovery: Port Alberni a ‘tough’ town that will survive latest economic challenges, says mayor

Port Alberni has faced its fair share of challenges and economic upheaval over the past few decades.

Now, like every Island community, it’s trying to bounce back from this global pandemic.

In this week’s Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, Joe Perkins speaks to Port Alberni Mayor Sharie Minions about how the community is facing its newest challenge head-on. 

She says Port Alberni is a tough community that has survived countless economic challenges before and will continue to survive during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. She also says the town’s previous economic challenges, mean it is a little more experienced in dealing with difficult times than some other communities on the Island.
