Despite recent gloomy weather, Victorians have been celebrating the return of the tourism industry, as borders open and cruises resume. But what happens when summer’s over and visitor numbers reduce? That’s when Destination Greater Victoria’s focus turns to another kind of traveller.
In this episode, Nursey talks about how they’ve focused on event tourism as a way to attract people to the region, and what motivated that strategy.
He also touches on how DGV took on the sales and marketing responsibility for the Victoria Conference Centre in 2017, the production of the IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism Conference and the Greater Victoria Sport Tourism Conference in 2018. Nursey says this strategy retains key programs aligned with DGV’s brand and helps round-out businesses seasonality.
