In this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala chats with Lawrence Lewis, CEO and founder of OneFeather.
OneFeather is a technology business based in Victoria, that provides tools to protect data and create opportunities that improve access to Indigenous rights. The company describes itself as a “true centre for Indigenous identity — the only company offering secure digital sovereign identity and data solutions.”
Account holders have quick access to a variety of services with one single login and direct control over the data they share. Users can participate in their community’s elections and voting events and access online Status Card Services that allow individuals to renew, replace or reapply.
The company also offers a dedicated Indigenous banking solution called OneFeather APP, where users can link a pre-existing bank account to load their OneFeather PAY card — a reloadable payment card that can be used anywhere other major credit cards are accepted. Money transfers are also available, as well as OneFeather Tokens (1FTs), an Indigenous-only rewards system.
Lewis discusses in this episode the programs OneFeather offers, why there was a need for the company, and what Indigenous sovereign identity is in the digital space.
Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
