In this week’s episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala chats with Amber Simpson, CEO of Alexzi Building Solutions.

Alexzi Building Solutions is a manufacturing company with the aim of redefining the way the construction industry builds and “building for the future,” according to its website. The Vancouver Island-based company uses a near zero-waste, sustainable building material to traditional construction, called Nexiite.

The building material, created by Nexii, can produce high-performance envelopes, roofs, foundations, cladding and curtain walls. It’s considered a lower-carbon alternative to wood, concrete and steel, according to Nexii. The company is able to manufacture the panels off site, meaning they’re able to eliminate nearly all on-site waste.

Alexzi is certified to produce Nexiite and will be bringing the material to the Island, in its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant that will create more than 150 jobs.

Simpson explains in this segment what the sustainable material can be used for, how it will impact the construction industry, and what the future of building looks like.
