The Campbell River RCMP are investigating after officers received a report of shots fired in the 2700 block of Woodburn Road.

According to a police report, the incident took place in the early morning hours of Oct. 5, around 2 a.m.

Campbell River RCMP said that patrol officers responded to the report, which they referred to as a “possible domestic in progress,” however, after an ensuing investigation, it was found that the incident was actually an argument between two occupants of separate vehicles.

Police say the argument led to an altercation and concluded with one individual shooting a firearm at the other vehicle. The occupant who fired the weapon fled the area following the incident.

According to RCMP, nobody was struck or hurt by the gunfire.

Police dog services were called in and a loaded firearm was located at the scene, reads a police report.

The investigation into the incident continues and is being aided by the Campbell River Street Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services as authorities continue to search for the accused.

All entities involved are known to the police and it is believed that there is no risk to the general public.
