Rebels squeak out a tie in home opener, Raiders regain form

CHEK

WATCH: In what looked like a sure loss, the Westshore Rebels were saved by a botched field goal attempt from close range to salvage an 18-18 tie at Westhills Stadium last night.

With just seconds remaining on the clock and a chip-shot field goal for the win, the Okanagan Sun somehow missed the short kick and missed the opportunity to win the game.

The Rebels will settle for a tie against one of the best teams in Western Canada, and now hold a record of 1-0-1.

Meanwhile in Nanaimo, the V.I. Raiders exercised some demons, taking down the Kamloops Broncos 42-0 in their home opener at Caledonia Park. The Raiders were coming off a devastating loss in week one, that saw the team blow a 28 point lead.

The Raiders will host the Langley Rams next week, while the Rebels will head to Kamloops to take on the Broncos.
