Rebels reload for 2017

The defending Cullen Cup champion Westshore Rebels are holding their Spring training camp this weekend as Westhills stadium.

As is the case in Junior Football, a team’s success can be both a blessing and a curse. When a team does well, the players who excel often leave the following year to make the next step in their football careers.

Gone from last year’s banner-winning team are key weapons CJFL Player of the Year Jamel Lyles and fellow elite running back Trey Campbell. Both players will start next season at Canadian Universities.

The good news, however, is the Rebels reputation of winning is now attracting new talent from all over the country.

New head coach Charly Cardilicchia says the team features a nice mix of returning players and new recruits.

The Rebels kick-off their season in Kelowna against the Okanagan Sun on July 29th.
