WatchCHEK celebrates 10 years as an employee-owned station with a look back at the journey.
This year, CHEK is celebrating 10 years of independence and 10 years of employee-ownership.
But the CHEK story started in 1956 as the first private television station in the province. And it was a story that seemed destined to end back in 2009.
In September 2009, CHEK was set to go off air but the community rallied around the station. And with a deal by employees and several local investors, CHEK stayed on the air.
