The Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP detachment is turning to the public for help in an effort to gather information regarding a fire that proved fatal.
According to RCMP, the fire took place in North Cowichan on December 25, 2020, at around 9:30 a.m.
Firefighters with the North Cowichan Fire Department say they responded to a large Christmas Day fire at a home on Grieve Road, near Sherman Road, in the municipality’s South End neighbourhood.
A 79-year-old man, Frederick Allen Jones, was found deceased inside the residence and police are looking to the public to help in the investigation.
Sometimes the smallest piece of information is the key investigators are looking for. We hope someone will be able to provide this, said lead investigator, Cpl. Jen Morgan.
Anyone with possible information regarding Jones or the incident is being asked to contact Cpl. Jen Morgan, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-746-2119 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
